Yellowstone National Park reports the south entrance as the top gateway for visitors through June 30, 1958 with 93,626 entrants. The west, east, north and northeast entrances trail, and total visitors drop seven percent from 1957 to 321,912.
The American Legion convention parade in Boise on July 19 will include 20 mounted sheriffs passees, riding clubs with queens and colors, rodeo queens and clowns from Snake River Stampede, and a 21 member Navy drill team from Treasure Island. Jets from Idaho Air National Guard and U S Air Force will fly overhead as Admiral William C Specht leads the event.
Monday July 21 marks the deadline to file for moose antelope bighorn sheep and mountain goat hunts. Boise headquarters accept hand deliveries by 5 pm. mail postmarks may be dated to midnight. Drawings are set for August 1 and postage increases to 4 cents after August 1.
Senator Dworshak said Edward Cliff of the U S Forest Service will discuss Idaho timbers access road program and personnel needs while considering harvesting bug killed and down timber. He noted 714 million hoard feet yearly wasted due to lack of harvest facilities and projected a rebound in the lumber market creating jobs for about 6000 men.

Donald C. Davis of Ogden disappeared during a skin diving trip with companion David Milligan in Bear Lake between North Eden and South Eden creeks. Rescue teams from Utah and Salt Lake City searched depths to 150 feet but found no trace of the body. Davis left behind a wife and two sons.
George Seabiznick an ex convict arrested near St Charles after a five hour chase by Sheriff Monson will serve a two year term in the McNeil Island Federal Penitentiary for possession of a stolen car and gasoline theft. He is a Canadian citizen turned over to the FBI and prosecuted for illegal entry. He has prior Nevada burglary time and was deported to Canada. he is expected to be deported again after this term.
The Talent Find and Talk event will be held Friday night at 8 in the St. Charles recreation hall. Contestants are grouped by ages 6 to 12 and 12 to 58 years. Open to Farm Bureau members and their parents. contact Myrtle Cottle in Fish Haven or Edyth Ward in Bloomington to participate.
A one day educational event allows growers to view Idaho’s top rams and assess progress toward better type rams for fatter lamb production. The sale committee has chosen 685 of over 700 rams on the tentative list for the function of the year aimed at higher profits.
Mark and Betty Lou Pugmire plan to sell Mark's Chevron Service to Reynold Shepherd of Los Angeles. Shepherd will take possession August 15, with plans for vacations and eventual relocation to the Phoenix area. Shepherd, son of Edwin H. Shepherd of Paris, has worked in Lockheed’s aircraft field.
Dairy organizations provide eight scholarships totaling 1450 dollars to University of Idaho students and high school graduates. The funds aim to address a dairy industry labor shortage with slots in dairy manufacturing and dairy husbandry. Institutions include Idaho Ice Cream Manufacturers Association, Idaho Milk Processors Association, Challenge Cream and Butter Association, and Idaho Dairymen's Association.
A Paris First ward carnival will be held Wednesday July 28 at 7 30 p m with fun food games and many prizes. Proceeds benefit a good cause per the carnival committee.
Campers in Yellowstone National Park face new limits. Locations Madison Junction Old Faithful Lewis Lake West Thumb Fishing Bridge Cascade Canyon cap stays at 15 days per calendar year from July 1 to Labor Day. Other park campgrounds allow up to 30 days yearly. Primitive camps on Yellowstone Shoshone lakes allow seven days July 1 to Labor Day. Quiet hours 10 PM to 6 AM.
Research on movement and environment of bottom dwelling fish in Bear Lake Utah Idaho receives a 22500 dollar NSF grant to Utah State University led by Dr William F Sigler. Project runs three years starting June and aims to develop methods to measure factors in benthic fish movement with prior work limited. Cooperation includes Utah Idaho fish and game departments and Federal Fish and Wildlife Service dating back to 1987 1989.
Funeral services for George B. Price, a Paris native born September 4, 1878, were conducted in the Paris Second Ward chapel. The event featured prayers, musical numbers, obit uary reading, and grave dedication with interment in Paris Cemetery. pallbearers named Carson Taylor, Benny Hymas, Kenneth Meyers, Russell Meyers, Robert Clayton and Hugh Rich.
Absentee ballot request forms for the nominating election on Tuesday, August 12, are available at the county clerk’s office in the courthouse. Clerk Sam V. Tunks says applicants must use the official form. Voters distant from their precincts are urged to apply early. official ballots will be forwarded once printed.
Mr and Mrs William Bateman marked their golden wedding anniversary with a 1 o clock dinner at Fish Haven attended by children and families. The couple, now in Brigham City after leaving Bloomington, received an outdoor lounging chair as a gift and were joined by relatives from Syracuse Layton Paris and Salt Lake among others.
Garden City Lions Club hosts a chuckwagon breakfast July 24 from 5 to 10 am in Garden City Bear Lake valley area. Volunteers serve hot cakes sausage bacon eggs hashed brown potatoes and drinks to raise funds for area playgrounds. Local secretary Dave Malcolm invites everyone within hailing distance to attend.
