Carolyn Piggott daughter of Mrs Madsen Piggott of Bington and Norwood Pendleton son of Mr and Mrs Earl Pendleton, married June 28 in Elko Nevada. Piggott has been an operator for Mountain States Tele and Tele Co in Salt Lake for a year. Pendleton finished his third year at the University of Utah and will enter his senior year in the fall. They will reside in Salt Lake City.
Idaho license sales for the first six months rose 13 686 from last year to 113 806. Resident licenses led the increase with 12 724 credited to residents while nonresidents added 862.
The Bear Lake Rangers sponsored a multi day event in Paris with a horse show on July 3, a breakfast serving about 600 before 10:30, a noon parade featuring Paris wards and Bear Lake County floats, and a large rodeo attended by many, followed by fireworks. The event honored local groups and city officials and concluded with thanks to contributors. Separately Prof. Lyman H. Rich received the extension dairyman award and $1000 for dairy herd improvement work at the American Dairy Science Association meeting.
Funeral services for Charles Earl Derricott age 55 born Liberty district were held Tuesday July 8 at the Liberty ward chapel conducted by Bishop Ward Hymas. Interment Liberty cemetery pallbearers named Derricott family and misc relatives.
Senator Henry Dworshak warned Idahoans that the Northwest Public Power Association is plotting to seize control of water rights, arguing that a regional Columbia Valley Authority would erode state authority over irrigation, private power, and fish resources. He urged vigilance to prevent Idaho becoming a water dependent "poor relative" to Oregon and Washington.
Miss Joan Faber of Reseda California and Ned C Budge of Paris announce their engagement this week. Miss Faber is the daughter of Mrs Agnes Faber and Ned Budge is the son of Mr and Mrs Cyril S Budge of Paris. The wedding date will be in the late few months.
Two Logan youths Arlen Whittington 18 and Glenn Grey 16 along with two Evanston girls 15 and two Salt Lake boys 19 and 18 were injured when their north and southbound cars collided at Blue Lake resort entrance south of Garden City. Injuries ranged from fractures to severe cuts and bruises with transfers to Bear Lake Montpelier and Salt Lake hospitals. Sheriff Sherman Lutz reported the wreck and ongoing investigation.

Deputy Sheriff George Ramey arrested him after he skidded 172 feet before the crash due to no lights in a foreign made car.
Perry Oxley former assistant construction engineer for the State Highway department retired after a 37 year career in highway work. He moved from Iowa to Idaho in 1914 and began with the Idaho highway department in 1920 at Shoshone. He served as north Idaho engineer in Coeur d Alene and Lewiston and was named state construction engineer in Boise until 1956.
A motorboat owned by Tom Smith of Salt Lake City burned out from gas fumes near the Lakota Resort on Bear Lake last Sunday. Smith and a fellow Salt Lake man swam ashore after abandoning the fiberglass craft valued at 1200 dollars which burned completely and sank. This was the only accident reported amid Bear Lake boating crowds over the holiday.
Miss Karen Ann Asman daughter of Mr and Mrs Dale Ashman of Fillmore Utah and Nyle J Matthews son of Mr and Mrs Jesse Matthews of Liberty were married at the L D S temple in Logan on Tuesday July 1 George Raymond performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and close friends The grooms parents hosted a breakfast at a Logan canyon lodge and the brides parents held a reception in Fillmore the next night The couple will reside in Logan and plan a trip through Yellowstone and the Canadian border after their honeymoon

Christian Tueller, 95, longtime Paris resident, died Sunday July 6 at his son’s home in Geneva. Services held July 9 in Paris with Bishop Glen P Ward presiding. Survived by 10 of 12 children, 47 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren. burial in Paris cemetery.
