Parker family reunion occurred last Saturday at Lakota Resort with about 170 attendees from Idaho and nearby states. The event opened at 11 with T Parker, vice president, presiding. business and a brief program followed. lunch was served at 1 and the afternoon included social time, games, and boating activities.

Funeral services were conducted in the St. Charles ward chapel on Wednesday afternoon June 26 for Ola Jensen a long time St. Charles resident who died Sunday June 22 The service included prayers readings choirs duets and multiple speakers with grave dedication by Bishop Henry Monson Pallbearers were James Bunderson Henry Monson Joseph Laker Louis T Pugmire Leon Swenson and John Stocker.
Last Saturday rancher Russell Satterthwaite moving a band of sheep along the highway near St Charles toward summer range near Garden City was struck head on by a car driven by Wallace Hirschi of Salt Lake. Thirteen head were lost in the crash. A year ago Satterthwaite also lost forty three sheep at the same spot when a semi trailer crashed into them.
Mr and Mrs William Jensen returned early this week from a two week vacation covering 2500 miles visiting relatives in Idaho Oregon and Nevada They were joined by Mrs Jensen s sister and brother in law Miss LeRea Patterson placed second at the Idaho beauty pageant in Boise Accompanying them in Mapleton Ore they saw brothers Ace and LaVere Findlay and families In Elko Nevada they attended the Elko Stampede Weather was favorable throughout the trip.
A brush fire of undetermined origin spread over sage brush hills on the Leo Mattson ranch above the phosphate mine in Paris canyon. Paris fire department led by Glen Grimmett with Mark Pugmire and Blake Jensen fought the blaze east of the cabin. after hours of effort, the flames were extinguished by late Wednesday.
Mrs. May W. Fodrea of Boise, inspector for the occupational license bureau of the Public Health Department, made a business visit in Parisi. Kiris Fodrea, former Lewiston publisher, called on the Broxons at The Post for shop talk.
All Idaho farmers received pre numbered refund claim forms via mail for the July 1 1957 to June 30 1958 period. Forms must be filed between July 1 and September 30. Eligible farmers not on the government address list should request forms from the Internal Revenue Service in Boise.

New officers were chosen at the Soda Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting. Francis J. Rasmussen was named president with Scott Styles Henry Donat Bob Rumer William Horsley and Dalé Miner as directors. Paul Tipton was re appointed as secretary by the president elect.

A new postal law effective July 1 adds a 5 cent collection fee when mail lacks sufficient postage. Mail arriving without enough postage is held at the receiving post office until full postage and the 5 cent fee are paid, then dispatched to the addressee.
Ben Terrell Orvin 69 died of a heart attack early Saturday while en route to Bear Lake hospital. LT residents gathered in Laketown ward chapel for services conducted by Bishop Clarence Anderson with military rites at Laketown Cemetery and pallbearers named. Surviving are widow Verne Lamborn Orvin, daughter Mrs Don Anderson of Lewiston and two grandchildren.
About 60 members of the James Athay family held their third annual reunion in the Paris Second Ward chapel last Saturday. A buffet dinner and short program followed, with officers elected for the coming year and Floyd Clark as reunion chairman. Attendees came from Salt Lake, Magna, Ogden, Logan, Utah, Nampa, Dingle, Georgetown, St. Charles, Ovid, Paris, Conda and Montpelier.
The Bear Lake Rangers host a two day celebration starting Thursday with horse show and races at Paris Fairgrounds. July 4 features a chuckwagon breakfast at Emerson School, a large parade on Main Street, Queen Bonnie Shirley and Judy Parker preside, rodeo at Paris Fairgrounds, and a grand fireworks display.
Orval Dimick of Montpelier, one of four injured in a two car crash near the Bear Lake canal bridge on Highway 89 a week ago Saturday night that killed a four year old girl, is back home. Robert Parry, his daughter Leweghkem, and Parry’s sister in law Sherry Drundey were released the day after the accident.
