Open house for Hannah J. Humpherys on her 84th birthday drew friends and relatives. She came from England 64 years ago and later cared for her ill mother. She has a temple work record of over 1700 names and enjoys ongoing temple duties. Messages came from New York Salt Lake and Logan. More than 150 Bear Lakers honored Mrs. Emily M. Rich at an open house at the home of Clarence M. Rich on her 80th birthday. Known as Aunt Em in Bear Lake valley she was born July 9, 1869 in Grantsville Utah. She married William L. Rich on July 1 1896 in Logan and moved to Bear Lake with her family. Attendees included daughters Edith Rich Naoma Rich and relatives from Salt Lake City Provo and Logan among others. Banks of flowers adorned the reception as hosts and helpers served guests.

Arnell Leads ROTC Tour at Chanute Base
Darwin P. Arnell of St. Charles is among 82 University of Arizona ROTC cadets on a six week duty tour at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul Illinois. Arnell will undergo training in physical fitness weapons and marksmanship leadership voice and command and aircraft care as part of preparations for a commission as second lieutenant in the Air Corps Reserve in June 1950.
