Sunset Utah residents and Idaho visitors gather for holidays and family visits. Many attend events in Bear Lake City Ogden Salt Lake City Logan and Weiser Idaho. Paul Moser plans a British Mission trip following a Weiser banquet honoring him and the Eborn Shepherd families.

The national farm safety committee reports 11 700 deaths and one million disabling injuries from farm accidents in the past year. Farm Safety Week runs July 23 to 29 with the theme Safety is a Family Affair.
A federal tax on tires begins July 1 1961. Calvin E Wright Idaho district director orders wholesale and retail tire dealers to inventory all tires tubes and retread rubber on hand for highway use as of July 1. Inventory must follow crown width gauge and weight. Tax forms will be distributed by end of July and taxes due by October 15 1961.
The Bear Lake Rangers celebrated a big Fourth with praise for the smooth management by committees. Light morning showers gave way to clearer skies and mild weather, aiding the day’s enjoyment. Participants thanked all who helped.
Mr and Mrs Gordon Nutt and their Ogden family hosted Vinsitora at the Otto Bucher and Angus Porter homes during the holiday period.

Army Specialist Five Fay A. Clayton, husband of Katleen of Austell Georgia, arrived in Korea on June 17 and serves as a mechanic with the 15th Aviation Company of the 1st Cavalry Division. He entered the Army in 1952 and was last stationed at Fort McPherson Georgia. Clayton is listed as 87 years old with parents Mr and Mrs Heath er W Clayton of Montpelier Heights living at 3893 N Birth Street Montpelier.
A pamphlet from the Social Security Office explains how earnings affect benefits for those under 72 and why after age 72 benefits resume in full. It notes that yearly earnings up to 1200 dollars may limit payments and invites copies via the Pocatello office or a Montpelier city hall session on July 12, 1901.
The Wat. Side Local Bear Lake Farm Bureau sponsored the annual Talent Find at Fielding High School auditorium on June 20. Edith Ward chaired the event and explained a new judging point system. Winners across four age groups included Amy Ruth Ward and Cosette Reese in vocal solo, Linda Stucki, Chelane Mattson, Jean Stucki, JoAnn Olsen, Jane Ward, and Sherman Hart in piano and vocal categories. The Women’s Committee aims to encourage more young people to compete next year.
The Idaho Fish and Game department received national praise for two projects by its Information and Education division. Awards came from the American Association of Conservation Information for outstanding film and best news releases. Director Ross Leonard announced the honors, noting 1960 was the first year entries were submitted.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday July 5 1961 for Mrs Pauling Cox Whittington who died July 3 at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Montpelier after a lingering illness. Born December 10 1907 in St Charles Idaho she was married twice first to Leslie Cox then Burnell Whittington. Survivors include her husband son Paul Ke Cox of Paris and sister Doris Boggess of Salt Lake City. Burial at Garden City Cemetery under Matthews Mortuary.
The report notes right of way violations as a leading factor in Idaho traffic crashes. Officers report about 850 crashes monthly involve this factor, with many at intersections. Law enforcement warns conflicting driver philosophies and emphasis on legal rights over defensive driving contribute to the problem.
Union Pacific Railroad captured the Railroad Employee's National Safety Award for 1960 from the National Safety Council. Its class posted 40 million man hours or more with an accident rating of 2.61 per million hours, marking the 18th top honor in 38 years and a near perfect record since consecutive wins are barred.
The Motor Vue Theatre in Montpelier shows a popular Disney film this weekend. Admission is 50 cents for adults, 40 cents for ages 12 to 14, and 25 cents for ages 8 to 13. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the picture starting afterward.
