Death takes Bear Lake County treasurer Phyllis Wood
Phyllis H Wood served as Bear Lake County treasurer since January and died following a serious illness after a major operation. She lived in Paris with her husband David Wood and four children Faye Jimmy Donna Maxine, all survivors along with her parents James and Rebecca Hansen. Funeral services were held today with publication to follow.

Summer Residents and School Changes in St Charles
Mr and Mrs Stanford Pugmire spend the summer at their St Charles home. Pugmire, an instructor at Pocatello High School, will be dean of boys next year. Pocatello High serves 1700 students in a new million dollar building opening next fall. County treasurer books are audited this week by Mr Van Duesen before turnover to a new official.

Ardith Beck Injured in Auto Accident Near Geneva
Ardith Beck of Lanark sustained serious back injuries when his car overturned on a sharp curve near Geneva Saturday night. He was returning from Cokeville after a dance when the crash occurred. Doctors in Soda Springs say four vertebrae were crushed but he has a good chance for recovery with no permanent effects.

Funeral services for Ellen Athay in Paris Second Ward
Funeral services were held in the Paris Second ward chapel for Ellen Athay 76 who died Sunday at her daughter Edna Straw's home in Montpellier. Born February 25 1863 in Salt Lake City she moved to Paris as a child and later aided Bear Lake county colonization. Survived by two children Hiro Athay and Edna Straw, plus many Price relatives in Utah and Idaho. Interment in Paris cemetery with grave dedication by Ezra J. Poplsen.

A local committee met at Hotel Paris to organize a one day Pioneer and Homecoming celebration on July 24. Reed Kunz, S. G. Sleight, and Fenton Allred coordinate events including rodeo, horse racing, softball, and parade floats with participants from Liberty, Bern, Montpelier, Star Valley, and Sharon.

4-H Club Judging Tour Set For July 11
The annual 4-H club judging tour for animal husbandry and dairy classes is scheduled for Tuesday July 11. Dairy specialist Ivan H. Loughary and Dr Brady will assist with dairy and animal husbandry judging at Matthew Brothers farm in Liberty at nine a m. The day will cover sheep dairy cows horses beef and hogs with all 4-H members leaders and others interested urged to join.

Fish Haven Boy dies at thirty from typhoid pneumonia
Ivan Erickson of Fish Haven died in July at age thirty after a typhoid pneumonia illness. Born August 29, 1908, he was survived by his father Magnus Erickson Sr and Elizabeth Erickson, wife Onwella Perkins Erickson, daughter Norita Kay, and many siblings. Funeral services were held at the Fish Haven ward chapel with songs, prayers, and speakers, and interment followed at Fish Haven Cemetery with grave dedication by Frank Findlay.

Seventy nine descendants of T. W. Boehme of Geneva gathered at the Bear Lake Hot Springs resort on June 28 for the annual reunion. After swimming in the warm mineral waters lunch was served in the grove followed by a program and games.

Death Ends Career of Paris Business Man Earl Shepherd
Earl Shepherd a Paris business leader and former bank official was found dead at the Shepherd Hardware and Investment Company. Born November 29 1899 he served in World War I and held community roles from scout executive to bishopric counselor. Funeral services in the Second Ward Chapel included musical tributes and a graveside American Legion service.
