The Southern Idaho Moose association will hold a three day convention in Montpelier on August 10 11 12.Officials including Frank M Williams president and Myrtle Orchard senior regent of Women of the Moose oversee plans for 400 to 500 guests at Mooseheart Moosehaven charities and the humane service mission of the Loyal Order of Moose.

June Daniels Appointed to Fill Unexpired Term
At a county commissioners meeting June Daniels was chosen to fill the unexpired term of the late Phyllis Wood. The appointment followed a review of all applicants and Daniels’ prior service as deputy treasurer. Janaita Smart, daughter of Martin Winters, Montpelier, was hired as deputy to assist Daniels.

Better Train Service For Paris Announced
Pearce announced three daily trains from Montpelier to Paris starting Tuesday to boost freight and passenger service. The schedule includes 6 15 arrival in Paris, 10 30 arrival and immediate mail and freight unload, and a third trip after CBX freight from Salt Lake City. The mail remains unchanged with Montpelier mail arriving on the 9 30 train.

Large funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in Montpelier for Phyllis H. Wood former Bearlake county treasurer who died July 2 at Montpelier hospital. The First Ward LDS chapel hosted services with clergy and choir, followed by interment in Montpelier Cemetery under Williams Mortuary supervision.

Change in Ownership of the Browning Building at Paris
One of the area’s largest recent transactions sold the Browning building to O H Grimmett of Paris, contractor. The sale by the late Earl and Mrs. Shepherd was effective July 1, with the Shepherds moving to California. The building houses Paris Drug Co and other firms, with offices on floors above and the post office on the main floor.

Traffic Fatality Claims Georgetown Man Near Home
George Hoff of Georgetown died after being struck by a Bancroft driver on a road near his home. Witnesses say the car went 30 to 35 mph as Mrs. Hyrum Call attempted to avoid him. Hoff, deaf, did not hear the horn. He died Friday morning from multiple injuries after being taken to Bear Lake hospital. Funeral services were held at the Georgetown L D S chapel with many local mourners attending.
