Tech Sergeant Rulon H Thornock, radio gunner on a B 21 bomber, earned an oak leaf cluster in place of another air medal for meritorious action over Victoria Bay and Kairiru Straits on September 2 1943. His crew's aircraft attacked an enemy merchant ship, delivering two bombs that caused a direct hit and a near miss, starting a fire and sinking the vessel amid heavy anti aircraft fire.

Former Paris Resident Dies in Pocatello at 64
Frederick Charles Wilker, 64, an Idaho resident since 1883, died Thursday afternoon in a Pocatello hospital after two illnesses. Born November 21, 1879 in Switzerland, he came to Paris Idaho as a youth and later worked as an elevator operator at Kraft Cheese. He married Sarah Lillian Hurst in 1918 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Surviving are his widow, a son, three daughters, four brothers and sisters, and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements pending in Pocatello.
