Traffic Count On Highway 89 Rises In Idaho Wyoming
Traffic on U S 89 through southeastern Idaho and Wyoming rose in November and December reversing earlier declines. The counter south of Etna registered a 28 percent gain or about 613 cars per day versus 600 last year. For 1957 overall the decline eased to 7 percent from 1956, after being 8 percent a month earlier. Construction in the Snake River canyon was blamed for early 1957 declines.

Ernest White a 50 year old Montpelier resident was shot twice by a .22 caliber pistol around 6 am as he left his home en route to work. Avery Wixom 65 was arrested and is being held on charges pending White’s surgery. White was flown to Salt Lake City for treatment. Wixom is in sheriff custody.
