County Auditor Sam Vo Tunks reported January warrants arrived late with Bear Lake County old age assistance totaling 2600 dollars. Federal 1300, state 866.67, county 433.33. Dependent children 975 across 50 families. One blind case received 15 dollars. First 50 applicants certified March 9 1936. twelve have died. average grant 17.90 per case.

Readers will receive the paper Thursday morning instead of Friday. Advertisers will have their weekend specials visible earlier.
State Patrolman Osbourne John son assisted by Alton Bunderson organized yesterday a Junior Police for Fielding high school. Thirty boys were selected to serve during the school year in squads of ten with belts badges and caps later. Captain is Mark Pugmire assisted by 29 others on school buses. From Paris they traveled to Soda Springs to form the same organization in that town and planned a meeting with the city council and Lions club.
Fielding High Spar tans host Montpelier Bears Friday on the local court in what locals expect as a top regional matchup. A capacity crowd is anticipated after Fielding’s recent slump, with both teams late season form and a rematch after a narrow Montpelier win.
Funeral services for Cecil G Kearl 26 were held in the ward chapel with Bishop John H Weston officiating. Respects were read by the Round Valley Development Association and others. Burial in city cemetery followed a service featuring multiple musical numbers and floral tributes. He is survived by his wife two sons a daughter and his parents plus several siblings.
The light opera The Chimes of Normandy will be staged at Paris Second Ward chapel on February 18 and at St Charles Amusement Hall on February 16. Presented by the Bear Lake stake, the show features about fifty cast members from all wards with Byron Christianson Max Haddock Rich Scofield Wallentine Loel Aston Snow in principal roles. Mrs Ben F Hulme conducts the music and Smith Passey directs the stage.
Idaho Falls residents will host the fifth step of a seminary building program as Charles A Callis dedicates the new 16000 seminary. The 110 student brick building features two class rooms offices and a basement heating system. Brigham Madsen was contractor and Sandbeg Sundberg were architects with local funding and a year to build.
The Paris Second Ward M Men won three straight last week. They beat Randolph 32 to 19, Laketown 32 to 30, and St Charles 30 to 9, remaining undefeated in Stake play.
Senator E C Rich of Bear Lake County urged the Idaho legislature to cut farm truck licenses to 5 dollars from about 15.85. The proposal failed as Republicans stuck to party lines. Rich argued small truck owners deserve the same rights as large vehicles.
G Nicholas Ifft, Pocatello editor and member of the three man liquor board, says liquor companies were told by the former liquor control commission who to represent. He notes selecting legal counsel and removing politics from liquor dealings as key aims of the governor’s new nonadministrative board.
The M Men and Gleaners host an informal Valentine themed dance at Hotel Paris on February 11. Guests include leaders from the stake. a 25 cent admission applies. This is the group’s second party, expected to match the success of the first.
Fielding High School auditorium will host a choric drama titled Hiawatha on February 20. The new form of choric drama is popular in England and parts of Europe and is recently introduced locally. Admission is 10 and 25 cents.
The Paris Second ward held its annual Dutch banquet Friday evening February 3 in the ward hall. A hot dinner was served at 7 30 p m and a program followed. The main entertainment was Chinese Checkers with thirty seven guests present.
A public development plan for Minnetonka cave in St Charles canyon was outlined by Bear Lake county officials and a committee including A G Nord and S G Sleight. The project aims to improve access with roads and trails, remove hazards, and eventually install electric lighting, turning the site into a major regional attraction.
Clifford Jaussi shone for Rick College as Nazarenes defeated the Vikings 42 to 16 in a high scoring game. Jaussi hit seven of 11 shots including five of six in the first half and totaled 14 points, while Emrick led Nazarene scorers with 22 and Mosteller controlled the boards.
Harry Williams a Liberty and Sharon school bus driver says heavy snow has blocked roads in the county for several days. Plows have been unable to clear some routes at this time.
The Paris Second Ward Relief Society will host its annual social in the ward hall on Thursday February 16. A hot supper will be served in the ward chapel followed by a dance in the pavilion. All married people of Paris are invited to attend.
