The Division of Fish Culture announced immediate shipment of 100000 Mackinaw trout eggs from Duluth Minnesota to the Laketown Utah Bear Lake hatchery. Fred J. Foster of the bureau said the eggs are scarce this year and the goal is to raise fish to several inches for planting.

Final county budget approved by commissioners

The Bear Lake County commissioners approved the final county budget for 1939 with line items: Current Expense 57,975.25. Road and Bridge 31,365.00. Bond and Interest 24,762.43. Previous year figures were 51,511.19 for Current Expense, 16,326.29 for Road and Bridge, and 25,816.68 for Bond. Reflections noted on fair allocation of 300. no election this year saves 3,407. County building upkeep, fair, weed and pest control, nurse, pensions, and poor costs rise in 1939 versus 1938.

Montpellier students tour Idaho high schools for exchange

Five students and a faculty member from Montpellier high school toured several Idaho schools for a three day program. They observed student government and activities at Burley Rupert Springs Blackfoot Jerome and Twin Falls high schools meeting with student councils and superintendents. The group aimed to assimilate best practices into their school. Superintendent A J Winters views the tours as valuable for education and notes the program is growing as a yearly feature.

Future Farmer students from Fielding High School competed in livestock and crop judging at the Ogden Livestock Show on Friday February 10.
