Fielding Hi Spartans defeated the Soda Springs Cardinals 55 to 39 at Paris on Friday night then lost 71 to 47 at Grace on Saturday. Castello Named Executive Secretary of Idaho Farm Bureau
The Idaho Farm Bureau Federation boards named F. W. Castello of Manhattan Kansas as executive secretary. Castello, 48, a Kansas native and Kansas State College graduate, has directed organization efforts for the Kansas Farm Bureau since 1949. The bureau also approved a large commodity and food promotion program stressing nutrition and budget priorities. A multi state Farm Bureau policy activation conference in Boise February 6 and 7 will include leaders from Utah Idaho Montana Oregon and Washington and the American Farm Bureau Federation to discuss national legislative priorities and program implementation.

The Montpelier elementary project calls for an L shaped building with two wings 76 by 192 feet and 76 by 195 feet in a double loaded corridor layout. It includes 11 classrooms of 26 by 80 feet and four 30 by 30 foot rooms, plus a 42 by 77 foot multipurpose lunch room, ample lavatories, storage, and staff spaces. Construction features include cinderblock walls with brick or gemstone facing, a pre stressed concrete slab roof, clear glass lower windows and glass block upper panes, and tempered air heating with individual room controls.

Funeral Services for Former Paris Teacher Held in Kaysville
Funeral services for Mrs. John H. Parker 62 of Kaysville Utah were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Kaysville Second Ward with Bishop Glen Garrett presiding. A native of Provo and BYU graduate she taught English in Ferron Lehi Cowley and Paris before joining Hill Air Force Base staff in 1953. She died after a lingering illness and is survived by her widower four children two brothers a sister and other relatives.

Charge Reduced in White Death Case at Montpelier

Hold Hearing for Oil Lease on State Land in Bear Lake
The State Land Commission held a hearing in Paris on a 7 610 acre Bear Lake area oil lease filed by S S Brooks. Representatives from Utah Power and Light and the Fish and Game Dept asked about testing conditions to protect waters and fish. Brooks said he now has 286 leases totaling nearly 70 000 acres and that Amerada Petroleum will own them. seismograph crews are in the field and further drilling could occur this summer. Scouts for other oil firms are active and one company has acquired small tracts.
