Laketown Ends Hand Crank Telephones with MST Dial Service
At midnight December 14 Laketown switched from privately owned crank magneto telephones to Mountain States Telephone Company dial service. The change, overseen by MST Logan office manager Thad Carlson, allows direct dialing of local and long distance calls with no tolls to Paris, Garden City, or Laketown from the Montpelier exchange.

Francis Findlay Dies in Boston at 74
Word reached The Posts of the death of Francis Findlay 74 of Boston Mass formerly of Fish Haven. He died November 30 in a Boston hospital after a lingering illness. Born January 29 1893 in Fish Haven he studied at Fielding Academy Paris University of Utah and taught music at Ricks Academy Rexburg. He later trained at the New England Conservatory of Music graduating and teaching there. He is survived by his wife Martha of Boston two daughters Mrs H Thomas Moir Dallas Texas and Antonette C Findlay Indianapolis Ind a sister LaNor Stock Palm Desert Calif two nieces Mrs Helen Peterson Palm Springs Calif and Mrs Nevin Elliott Palm Desert and a nephew Col Clayton Findlay Columbia Mo Funeral services were held December 6 in Boston.

Wycoff Truck and Car Side Swipe Near Bear Lake Canal Bridge
At 7:40 am a Wycoff Inc truck driven by Ross Caldwell of Paris and a car driven by Mrs Leone Gertsch of Paris collided near the Bear Lake Canal Bridge on Highway 89. State Officer H R Chadwell reported both vehicles stayed near the center line. no citations issued. Gertsch’s car sustained 600 to 700 dollars in damage, especially to the left front fender and side. the truck about 200 dollars. Gertsch suffered a skinned nose, Caldwell uninjured.

Horse Struck and Killed in St Charles Caused by Mishap
A horse belonging to Brigham Irwin was struck and killed by Lawrence Modula operator of the Hacienda Club in Montpelier while traveling north on Highway 89 in St Charles. No injuries to the driver were reported and the incident cost at least $600 in damages.

Death of Paris resident David Beck prompts services
David Beck of Paris died Tuesday morning likely from a heart attack after shoveling snow. Born December 1, 1884, in Paris to Ariders and Sophia Becks, he married Margaret Low in 1902 and William Langford in 1944. He served on the Cardo Arte Latter Quorum and was a former ditchman and watermaster. Funeral services are set Saturday at 4:00 pm at the Paris LDS Wards Chapel with burial in Paris City Cemetery.
