Prominent Bear Lake Man Buried in Paris Friday
Funeral services for Alma Ellis Straw, 66, were held at the Montpelier LDS Second Ward chapel last Friday. Straw, born August 6, 1891 in Springville Utah, died Wednesday in a Soda Springs hospital and was buried in Paris cemetery. He graduated from Brigham Young University and lived in Bear Lake County since the railroad era. An elder in the LDS church, he was active in civic and fraternal groups and later known as a rodeo announcer. He is survived by wife Edna Athay Straw, a son Rex of Los Angeles, daughters Mrs J Reed Crane of Montpelier and Mrs A W Horsley of Iowa City, a sister Mrs Charles Elliott of Provo and seven grandchildren.

Paris Youth Weds Californian At Home Of Parents
Keith Lewis of Pocatello and Peggy Harris of North Sacramento California wed at the groom's parents home in Paris. The ceremony was conducted by President L Burdette Pugmire with family present. Fall to Basement Breaks Ankle of St. Charles Man
Lowell Booth of St. Charles fell into a cement basement while helping with new home construction in Pocatello and broke his ankle. He was hospitalized in Pocatello for several days before returning to his St. Charles home last Saturday. Mrs. Booth accompanied him back home.

The Bureau of Reclamation will spend about 10.5 million dollars in Idaho this year. Palisades project receives 2.399 million to finish dam power plant switch yard and transmission facilities by spring 1958. Wilson Accepts Coaching Posts At Fielding High
Bob Wilson of Henefer Utah an outstanding end on the Utah State University football team has accepted the coaching position at Fielding High School and will report December 16. He replaces Merrill Boothe who leaves for New Zealand. Wilson starred in basketball and football at North Summit and earned all state honors. He funded college by selling sheep and other work and plans to coach and raise livestock to keep his family occupied. He is married to Dearden Shirley and they have three children.

Dr. Ethel E. Redfield former head of Idaho State College education department died in Palo Alto California after 48 years in education. She served Idaho as state superintendent of public instruction 1917 23 high school inspector 1923 24 executive secretary of the State Board of Education 1924 25 and state commissioner 1925 27.

The annual Senior Aaronic Priesthood banquet was held last Friday in the St. Charles Ward hall with President Hansen of the Montpelier Stake as guest speaker. Arlo Weston served as master of ceremonies. A turkey dinner, prepared by Relief Society members, was served to 200 priesthood members and their wives.

Funeral services for B L Pioneer Negus held at Garden
Funeral services were held at the Garden City Ward chapel for John Wayment Negus 86 pioneer stockman and farmer of Bear Lake Valley who died December 6 in Logan. Born in England in 1871 he moved to the U S in 1882 and lived in Plain City before moving to Garden City in 1895 where he farmed until retirement in 1944. He married Flora Cottle in 1895, who died in 1926, and later married Alice Cottle. The service included readings, songs, and multiple speakers led by Bishop Mitchell Sims. Surviving are his widow, sons John and William, stepchildren Charles and Sterling Cottle, daughters and many grandchildren.
