Funeral services for Caro line Marie Olsen 73 longtime Ovid resident and Bear Lake county pioneer were held in the Ovid ward chapel last Saturday after she died November 26 following a stroke at Bingham Memorial hospital Blackfoot. Born March 12 1884 at Ovid she was daughter of Jens C and Karen Nielsen Olsen one of nine children active in the LDS church and a 4 H leader. Interment followed in the Ovid cemetery with John Tueller dedicating the grave.

Idaho 4-H boy wins top state honors for Chicago trip
Sixteen year old Jack Randolf of Lemki County earned top state 4-H honors for outstanding achievement in the Agricultural program. He will join Idaho delegates at the 4-H Club Congress in Chicago the week of December 15. Randolf built a herd of four purebred Herefords valued at 1500 dollars from a gift pig and a dairy heifer and has earned county awards in beef and swine fitting and showing soil judging poultry and entomology. He served as assistant leader for a half year and has been junior leader since 1955.

Utah Power and Light will supply free electricity to light about 50,000 holiday lamps in over 100 cities in Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho. The gift covers dusk to midnight from December through January 1, with service wires provided to connect lights to lines. Last year the utility powered 246,000 kilowatt hours for 43,000 bulbs in 105 communities, including areas in Cache Valley and southeastern Idaho.
