Bear Lake County Fair Sets Attendance and Livestock Records

The Bear Lake county fair closed after a three day run with the largest crowd to date. Thirty four steers and 38 lambs were shown with top prizes going to Miss Rosalee Payne and Miss Margaret Payne of Georgetown and Craig Palmer of Paris respectively. Grand Champion steer weighed 1795 pounds and sold to Walton Feeds at 46 cents per pound. Reserve Grand Champion steer went to 902 pounds and sold to IGA at 42 cents. Grand Champion lamb weighed 73 pounds and sold to Dr. Spencer Hess at 1 dollar per pound. Reserve Grand Champion lamb weighed 112 pounds and sold to Dr. James Costello at 1 dollar per pound. Awards also given for 4H Fat Stock exhibit and parade winners across multiple divisions.

Rich County Fair wraps up with rodeo and dance

The Rich County Fair closed after a two day run highlighted by a Saturday parade on Randolph Main Street and a 2 PM rodeo at Randolph grounds. Lannie and Seth Weston won saddle and bareback titles while Doug Robinson placed second. a horse died after striking a post.

Federal funds support the project with 38 percent from the state. Concrete highway 24 feet wide eight inches thick progresses at 1000 to 1200 feet daily with no expansion joints.

Oil boom possible in southern Idaho as leasing rises

Young Paris Couple Exchange Vows in Idaho Falls Temple

Miss Kathleen Stucki daughter of Mr and Mrs Dom W Stucki of Paris Idaho and Richard J Stocker son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Rich of Paris were married in the Idaho Falls temple on Friday August 23 1963. The couple were accompanied by Mrs Don W Stucks Mrs Hugh Rich Mrs Erwin Parker of Lanark Mr and Mrs Wayne Nye. Stocker plans to continue his nursing career while serving in the U S Army and a home will be planned after his release.

The 1958 Fielding High School graduates gathered for a five year reunion at Blue Water Beach on Bear Lake on Saturday August 17. Minnetonka Cave Partially Closed for Road Work

The Minnetonka Cave near St Charles Missouri, run by the Paris Lions Club under U S Forest Service lease, closed early this year due to road construction from the Forest Service boundary to Porcupine Campground. About 3 390 visitors from 27 states and five foreign countries had explored the cave this season with plans to finish road work next year and enhance interior lighting.

Bear River Dam Hearing Draws Support and Opposition

At Boise the U S Bureau of Reclamation described the Bear River at Oneida Narrows dam as needed by some while others in Franklin county oppose it citing land encumbrance and taxation losses.
