Clarence M Rich Succumbs To Sudden Illness

Clarence Matthews Rich 69, lifelong Paris resident, died Tuesday night at Dee Memorial Hospital Ogden after a brief illness. Born July 21, 1898, he was an LDS Church leader and former Bishop of Paris First Ward. Survived by widow Margaret and children, funeral Saturday at Paris LDS Ward Chapel with burial in Paris City Cemetery.

Dixie Rich Sworn as Paris City Clerk and Police Judge

Dixie Rich, newly appointed Paris City Clerk and Police Judge, was sworn in by Mayor Smith Gertsch at a special City Council meeting. She succeeds Lloyd J. Passey, who recently resigned the post.

School Board Awards Fuel and Insurance Bids

The Montpelier coal bid led at 13.40 per ton and Standard Oil offered the lowest gasoline bid at .204 per gallon. Other bids included Talbot Oil 2K American Oil .2130 and Continental Oil .2155 per gallon. Two bids for bus insurance were Farmers' and Realty Insurance Mart. Arlo and wife of Garden City Utah won approval to send two children to Bear Lake County schools with non resident tuition paid by parents. Transportation policy remains that students use district transport unless mutual consent is given.

Bids to be Let for Camp Lifton Road Project

Bids for the Camp Lifton Road project will be let on September 12 in Boise. The work covers 4.789 miles with 70 and 84 foot concrete bridges, drainage, and road mix bituminous surfacing under District Engineer Orion L. Grunerud. Completion is planned within 150 working days after project start. Bear Lake County Commissioner Walt Ward noted bidders should be ready to begin immediately after the bid is let.

School Registration Fees and Openings Scheduled

Registration and laboratory fees are listed for grades 1-7 at 5.00 with no refund, junior high at 3.00 with 2.00 refund, and senior high at 8.00 with 2.00 refund if no fines. The first school year meeting for staff is Friday September 1 and classes begin September 5.

Bus Routes and Stops Set by Nelson

Supt Willis G Nelson of Montpelier announces new school organization will minimize bus routes and eliminate short side trips to meet daily opening and closing times. The board funds transport for students living over 14 miles from school. parents are responsible for travel to the scheduled stops and cooperation is urged.

Dingle Man Clifford Linford Dies in Monsanto Accident

Clifford Linford 85 died after an accidental fall at the Monsanto plant in Soda Springs Mn. He married Jewell Bernice Quayle on August 5 1984 at Randolph Utah. Survivors include widow Judy Wilthelm son Larry R two grand children and siblings in Idaho Falls Ripon Cheyenne Salt Lake City. Funeral services set for Friday at 1 00 pm at the LDS Chapel in Spingle.
