Miss Bear Lake Pageant Seeks Miss 1968 Crown at Montpelier

Ten contestants will compete September 1 at Bear Lake High School auditorium for Miss Bear Lake 1968. Sponsored by Montpelier Lions Club, the pageant serves as the Miss USA preliminary. Contestants include Peter Rae Pollard and others from Montpelier Paris and Geneva with various sponsors.

Lois Arlene Beck Weston obituary funeral held

Funeral services for Lois Arlene Beck Weston 31 were held at Laketown LIDS Ward Chapel on Wednesday. She died Saturday at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital of a heart ailment. Born July 2 1936 in Ovid she was married to Joseph Storey Weston May 2 1956 in Logan Temple. Survived by husband four Lake Town children. parents of Ovid. grandmother Mrs Heber J. Phelps of Ovid. a brother and three sisters. Burial in Lake Town Cemetery with dedicatory prayer by Owen Marley. Palbearers included John Beck Bryce Beck Wilson Wehlstrom Gary Jorgensen Mike Nelson and Carl Beck.

Edna Morgan 67 dies after short illness in Utah

Edna Keet eh Morgan of Liberty Utah aged 67 passed away August 20 at a Murray hospital after a brief illness. She was born April 25 1900 in St Charles the daughter of Elijah and Annie Keet eh. She married Hugh Morgan December 16 1920 in the Logan LDS Temple. Survived by her husband two sons Daryie and Eldon two daughters Moroni Orr and Lorna Whittaker 18 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Liberty LDS Chapel at 1:00 p m Thursday with interment in Liberty Cemetery.

County Board urges units to certify levies by Sept 11

Bear Lake County Commission urges city village and county officials to certify tax levies by September 11. The communication explains the need to estimate millage due to unknown total valuation and notes no roll back provision. It asks units to consider operating budgets and possibly certify dollars and cents or mills with dollar amounts to aid budget planning. The Board plans to cut where needed to meet the budget.

Marsha Bartschi’s steer weighing 796 pounds won Grand Champion at the E.F.A. and AH Fat Stock Sale. Walton Feed paid 50¢ per pound. Reserve Champion steer 898 pounds sold to Haddock's IGA for 42¢. Heaviest steer 1019 pounds shown by Sid Jensen. Other prime and choice steers sold to Safeway, Tri-State National Bank, and multiple local buyers at varied prices.

Funeral Services Held for Grace Vander Heide

Noon funeral services were held in Salt Lake City for Grace Vander Heide poorer, a former Relief Society worker and LDS missionary. Survivors include her husband John Moghaar and sons John A. Vander Heide and Ray, plus daughters Mrs Warnell Dyona Peterson and others, 28 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, with siblings Pete, Denzil, and Della.
