Ira Lee Kenson Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

Attorney Jerry Stau reported Ira Lee Kenson charged with involuntary manslaughter for a crash on US Highway in Montpelier Bear Lake County. The complaint alleges Kenson drove negligently under influence of liquor, striking Norman Beck who died from injuries. Preliminary hearing held before Justice Albert of Montpelier. defendant released on 2500 bond.

Primary Festival and Parade Planned for Aug 23

Bear Lake Stake holds a gala festival and parade of miniature floats on Wednesday Aug 23 with over 500 children from each ward. The Emerson band leads a course featuring four nations Scandinavian British Isles Pacific and Indian in song dance and drama as part of the Summer Primary program.

Stanford Rich Dies Sudden Friday in Boise

Stanford B. Rich aged 51 of Salt Lake City died of coronary thrombosis Friday in Boise while on business. He was born February 1, 1899 in St. Charles Idaho and moved to Salt Lake City in 1929. Rich was manager of Glenns Falls Insurance intermountain service office for 19 years and a member of LDS church seventies quorum BPOE Salt Lake golf club and International Blue Goose Insurance Men's club. He married Jennie Grimmett in Paris Idaho in 1923. Survivors: widow two sons Stanford J Rich and Kenneth G Rich two sisters Pauline Whittington and Darlas Boggess. Funeral was Tuesday at Yalecrest Ward chapel.

Bear Lake Men Called Up for Physical Exams

Norma Roghaar, clerk for the Local Selective Service Board, announced this week that Bear Lake registrants were forwarded to Boise for armed forces physical examination. Better Farming Electrically Display at Bear Lake Fair

Visitors at the Bear Lake County Fair in Montpelier August 17 18 19 will view the Better Farming Electrically displays in the big tent. Utah Power and Light Company and Intermountain Electrical Association sponsor the event with local dealers, showing up to date farm electrical equipment and methods to cut labor costs and raise profits. An electric kitchen and laundry for the farm home will be exhibited. Stanford Rich Jr of Twin Falls was an overnight guest at the Grimmett home Friday and left for Salt Lake City Saturday.

Ernest Howell 56 Fish Haven rancher dies after lingering illness

Ernest S. Howell, 56, a Fish Haven stockman, died at home after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Fish Haven ward chapel. Survived by Wanda Clark Howell, one daughter Dorothy, two brothers, four sisters, and other relatives. Burial in Fish Haven cemetery.

Montpelier Man Dies of Heart Attack at Home

Lewis Schreier 68 died suddenly last Thursday morning at his Montpelier home from a heart attack. Paralyzed from the hips since infancy, he remained cheerful. A finished dressmaker and longtime tailor at Schmit Brothers for 26 years, he was born in Switzerland January 23 1882 and moved with family to Bear Lake County as a child. Surviving: widow Martha Hirschi Schreier a son Norman one brother Bred Schreier two sisters Annie Sommera and Mrs Paul Bolin.

Mr and Mrs Evan Morgan accompanied daughter Lou Jean to the Logan Temple Friday where she wed Jack Allred son of Mr and Mrs Rich Allred of St Charles. Both newlyweds are Fielding High School graduates from the class of 1950. They left for a short honeymoon after the ceremony.

Funeral services for Norman Beck were held Friday in the Ovid chapel with Bishop James Olsen presiding. The service featured a quartet opening with Jesus Lover of My Soul, prayers, vocal solos, and closing songs, ending with benediction by Lorenzo Shurtleff. Mrs Mabel Howell plans to move to California after visiting Galt Lake.
