Mr and Mrs Alman Kunz of Ft. Steele Wyoming report their son Sgt Alfred Kunz is missing in action since July 31. Born March 13 1919 in Bern Idaho he served as a rear gunner on a B 17 and enlisted January 8 1942. He is survived by his parents and a brother Grant.

County Infantile Paralysis Chapter Reorganizes Leadership
The Bear Lake chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis met at a Montpelier hotel luncheon on August 10. Edward Williams was elected county chairman for 1945, replacing Standley Rich, who becomes an Executive Committee member. The secretary noted 1944 was the most successful year for funds, with 574.43 on hand and 375 contributed to a county patient at Warm Springs. Basil OConnor serves as Foundation president without salary.

Geren Howell Completes Naval Training School
Bluejacket Geren V Howell of Fish Haven Idaho completed naval training at Iowa State College Ames and gained eligibility for the petty officer rate of motor machinist's mate third class. Idaho Duck Hunting Season Opens October 14
Idaho announces a season from October 14 to January 1 for ducks and geese set by the US Fish and Wildlife Service with a daily bag of 10 ducks and two geese. A man named Preston Brimhall, reported dead in a Victorville California plane crash on August 30, turned up alive in Paris last Thursday. He and his wife arrived by bus after lingering rumors placed him among the crash victims, prompting reassurance that publicity does not kill.

Killing Frost Ends Gardens Early Tuesday Morning

The American Red Cross has printed new postal card forms for Far East POW mail. Cards hold a 24 word message, require no postage, and speed delivery. Fires Reported in Cache National Forest Sentinels
Cache National Forest headquarters in Logan Utah reports twelve fires in the Cache Forest district for the period ending July List. Eight fires started from lightning and four were man caused including one from a camper one from a smoker and two by small boys.
