Theatre Family Plan Tickets On Sale This Week

The Novelty Theatre in Paris announces Family Plan tickets for August 31 to February 29. About 150 tickets must be sold to sustain two weekly show changes and year round operation, aided by summer reserves. Mr. and Mrs. Hawkes oversee the theatre as a community project on Bear Lake Valley’s west side. Ticket books are available at Lowe Drug store.

Two Deer Tag Classes Authorized in Idaho This Season

Idaho will issue only two classes of multiple deer tags besides the regular deer tag. The Middle Fork tag is valid in Unit 27, while the Extra deer tag covers units 13, 18, 22, 42, 67, 76, 78 and the Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge. Nonresidents must buy the $25 Nonresident Restricted deer tag for specified units. One bear hunt allowed with that license. no bear tag required.

William Shepherd Family Holds Historic Reunion at Fish Haven

More than 200 descendants gathered August 3 at Bear Lake’s Fish Haven Resort to honor early Bear Lake Valley settlers from England. The Ernest Shepherd family presented a program with music by grandchildren and great grandchildren of Ernest and Eliza Shepherd, plus remarks on the couple’s history. Chairmen May and Irwin Jensen led the event with Velate Derricott directing.

Native of Paris Visits After Forty One Years Absence

Elizabeth Rich Miller of Hollywood California returned to Paris after 41 years away. The 1913 Fielding Academy graduate explored Bear Lake area again, met old friends, and marveled at modern streets, lawns, and tidy homes. She has four children and 10 grandchildren and delayed her return to contact memories and see the valley.

Paris First Ward Trailbuilders Roundup Held

The Paris First Ward Trail Builder boys held their annual roundup Monday evening in the ward chapel with the Blazer Welcome and advancement program. The code and songs were repeated, and a chuckwagon supper was served amid pine boughs and sagebrush decor. About 44 boys, parents, Ward Primary officers and bishopric attended.

Fielding High School Opens Term on Tuesday September 3

Fielding High School in Paris will begin the 1963-64 term on Tuesday September 3 with an opening assembly and a Get Acquainted Dance set for September 6 at the Paris Pavilion. Dennis Dayton will replace Ted Chidester in social studies and Miss Verda Rex will take over home economics. Mrs Melinda Sparks leaves for a teaching post in New Zealand.

Rich County Schools Set to Open September 3

Rich County schools will begin classes September 3 under County Superintendent Richard L. Harmon. Paris Man Injured In Concord Area Car Crash

Richard Hansen son of Mr and Mrs Willard Hansen was hurt in a car crash near Concord Massachusetts while on an eastern States mission. He sustained a concussion and multiple cuts but later showed signs of good recovery in a Concord hospital where he was treated and expected to be discharged soon. He was riding as passenger when the vehicle struck a tree in a road construction zone and was saved from windshield impact by his seat belt.

Forest funds proposed for Wyoming roads and trails

Bridger National Forest advisory board members travelled from Kemmerer into the Upper Green River Valley in late July. They announced plans to spend about 2 million dollars on roads and trails in the Greys River and Smith Fork watersheds and an additional 1 million dollars on the watershed itself. A long range study on sheep driveways is also under review.

More than 500 members gathered Friday and Saturday for the Charles C. Rich family reunion at Bear Lake. Outlook Good for Waterfowl Hunting Season

Idaho Fish and Game Commissioner Frank Cullen and Washington State director John Biggs told the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service after the Pacific Flyway Council meeting in Las Vegas that eight western states and parts of Montana Wyoming and Colorado may see longer seasons and higher bag limits. They cited forecasts of a heavier duck flight this fall a strong winter waterfowl inventory and low hunting pressure as reasons for optimism.
