Mrs Madge Crawford Stewart 55 of Sacramento formerly of Paris and Pocatello died Aug 1 in Sacramento of a heart attack. She was born Dec 6 1900 in Garden City Utah and had lived in Paris before marriage in 1920. Survived by husband Cleone Stewart son Bladen Capell Yuba City two daughters Ada Boren and Helen Sampson Spokane eight grandchildren four brothers and two sisters. Funeral Aug 6 in Pocatello officiated by Bishop Frank L Harmon.

Vernon Taylor Promoted To Lt Colonel In Air Force
Vernon J Taylor a pilot from Ogden has been promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel He attended the Command and Staff School at Maxwell AFB Alabama since last September He graduated in June The 34 year old entered the Air Corps in 1939 as an enlisted man became a cadet three years later and was commissioned a pilot in June 1943 He holds the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and a Commendation Ribbon He flew combat missions over China and Burma in World War II After the war he was released to civilian status recalled in 1947 and given a regular commission in the Air Force Lt Col Taylor and family were in Laketown visiting relatives and are reported to be leaving soon for duty in Japan.
