Helicopter Counts Idaho Mountain Sheep and Goats
Idaho game officials used a Bell helicopter in March to survey mountain sheep in the Middle Fork and Main Salmon drainages. The flights counted 756 sheep 110 goats and 561 elk, with 122 rams among the sheep and results to guide future population trend assessments.

If you held wool or unshorn lambs since April 1 1957 you may qualify for a federal wool incentive payment. File an application at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office by April 30 1958. Any sales not completed by that date shift to 1958 marketings and become payable in 1959.

Idaho cattle brucellosis rate shows slight rise in January
A federal report to County Agent Kerns indicates 1.07 percent of Idaho cattle tested positive for brucellosis in January from 23 766 cattle across 896 herds. Ring tests covered 65 herds with about 975 animals. Calf vaccinations totaled 20 851. Idaho had 14 modified certified counties and four herds totaling 2 384 animals certified. Nearly 940 000 cattle remain under supervision.
