The City Council proclaims Saturday April 23 as Clean-up day in Paris. Rubbish placed in old containers or boxes by the roadside will be hauled away free of charge that day. Citizens urged to prepare and use the free haul-away services offered by the city.
John E Weston of Meadowville and Beverly Jewell Miller of Salt Lake City wed in Salt Lake City on April 7 officiated by Bishop Ralph W Chisholm. Bridesmaids wore lavender and yellow taffeta with bouquets. They plan to reside in Maxdenville.
Recent guests and visitors filled Fish Haven as neighbors hosted relatives from Boise Logan Salt Lake Brigham Garden City and other towns. Easter visits from Cokeville Ogden Big Piney Sugar House and Nevada accompanied local gatherings and school group trips to Bear Lake Hot Springs.
Community activity schedule lists an Emerson Spring Festival on May 20 followed by a Commencement Dance. Earlier events include a Bhake Benefit Dance for the Cultural Arts Program on April 22 23 and 29 and a Scout Party on May 6.
Red Cross Chapter Treasurer Edwin T. Shepherd reports all wards except one have contributed to the drive totaling 402.10. Contributions listed include Paris wards 28.60 and 48.75, Lanark 23.00, Liberty 60.60, Sharon 24.50, St Charles 84.25, Fish Haven 22.05, Paris Business 75.75, Standard Oil 10.00, Mt. States Tele Co 5.00.
Extension Husbandman EBF Rinehart of the University of Idaho will visit the county April 27 to 30. He works with the Caribou Cattlemens’ Ass'n and Bear Valley Cattlemens’ Ass'n on their annual Bull Grading program, accompanied by bull grading committees and county agent Duane Hansen. A discussion at C P Keetch ranch Wardboro on April 28 at 1 30 p.m will cover beef bull selection and grading. all interested are invited.
St Charles residents report ongoing work to clear Northwest cottonwood trees near the ward chapel. Numerous local people and families are noted across towns from Logan to Montpelier visiting relatives, travels to Salt Lake City, Bloomington, Laketown, and Ogden with several hospital and family care mentions.
Inland Realtors note crowd activity during conference with memories of Bear Lake Valley neighbors. They recount interactions with Bishop Os born Dunford and Mrs Venna Patterson, Mr and Mrs Alfred Sheppard, and Joy Briscoe. They praise large families and spiritual home life.
Governor Sherman B Lowe toured southeastern Idaho promoting Lionism. The Michaelson Quartet joined him for radio appearances and sang on KID. The program is to be rebroadcast Saturday April 23 from 12 to 12 30 noon.
Fred M. Stevens of Paris has been named manager of the Fourth annual Horse Show at Brigham Young University. The show, sponsored by the Ag Club, will feature classes similar to past events.
A fire at the Leo Mattson residence Friday morning caused an estimated $150 to $200 in damage. About 9:30 a group of schoolchildren alerted the Mattson family, neighbors used a garden hose to curb the blaze until firefighters arrived and extinguished flames in the attic. Water damage to rooms was slight. Sparks from a chimney were suspected.
The Priesthood Soft Ball League postpones its opening due to a conflict at Fielding High School. Opening games are rescheduled for Saturday April 30 with games starting at 3 p.m. once underway.
Local bus for Montpelier runs at 7 45 a m on weekdays. Sherman Lowe and Ralph Roghaar attended an ions meeting at Sun Valley. Morgan J Rich arrived from Salt Lake City to visit indefinitely at the Sargent Rich home. Warren Caldwell of Ogden spent Easter weekend with his mother. Mrs Melinda Sparks and Dean of Pocatello spent spring vacation with friends in Paris. Ivan Beck family and Keith Warner family were Logan visitors. Mr and Mrs Keith Chase welcomed a baby boy at Bear Lake hospital. Vivian Nye drove to Salt Lake City after his wife and son Wayne. Coach Evan Sorenson spent the weekend in Logan. Blaine Rich, BYU student in Provo, spent Easter weekend with his parents. Mr and Mrs F H Campbell of Salmon City and relatives visited with Mr and Mrs Chas Crawford. Mrs Campbell is Mrs Crawford’s sister.
In Bloomington on April 26 Citizens and Peoples will appear on the ballot. Two candidates win 2-year terms and three win 4-year terms. Listed candidates include Piggott Harold Reese Peter Ward Ermen Stevens Cyril Jacobson Paul Haddock Hulme Dunford James Payne Newell Parker.
The Stake MIA sponsors a dance in the pavilion Saturday night April 23 for the roller skating summer program. Ward groups will sell home made candy and money raised funds new skates.
Mrs Mary Lou Herrick and children of Etna Wyoming spent Sunday with her parents the Dave Boltons. Louisa Grimmett dined with the W S Hoge family. A W Shepherd and Kate Innes visited the Wm Stell home in Logan. Ernest Armatage and family joined the Milford Passey home in Conda for Easter. Janet Collings, AC student, weekend with Joe Collings. De Witt Grandy and family from Heber City Utah visited Emil Grandy. Henry Fox Al Moor and Ruth Elson of Ogden spent Easter with relatives. Leo Bach of Los Angeles visited relatives the Bundersons in Montpelier. The Mirando Rich home hosted overnight guests Carl Thompson Lee Ann, George Carlson Gail, and Lewis Michel. Wilford Michel and daughter Linda travelled to Salt Lake City for business. Norma Grandy accompanied them.

St Charles School stages Around The World an operetta by George Schaffer and Carol Christopher. The show, titled International voyage, promises two hours of educational entertainment with free admission on Friday April 22 1949 at 8 p.m. All invited.
Funeral services for Wm. Bischoff were held Monday in the Bern ward chapel with Bishop Orlando N. Kunz conducting. Interment followed at the Paris cemetery with grave dedication by Ed Bisshoff of Gen eva. Out of town friends attended as six Ovid singers and local performers provided music.
Blooming ton area families, including Ray Welker and son Dennis Scofield with Mr and Mrs Lee Williams and Laura Parker, plus the Payne and Krogue households, joined for Easter and Sunday visits. Numerous relatives from Thatcher Logan Perry Cokeville Paris Idaho Falls Logan Georgetown Garfiet attended parties, dances, and a festival in Paris.
Arlene Morgan and Lyman Smart wed April 14 in the Logan Temple with Pres. ElRay Christiansen officiating. The ceremony preceded a family reception at Zonavoo Lodge and a short honeymoon before returning to Pocatello where Arlene teaches physical education at Idaho State College and Lyman studies English.
Bear Lake Stages will resume daily operations to Rock Springs starting May 1. The item notes a return to service and travel schedule.
