John Mattson of St. Charles Dies After Long Illness

John Mattson of St. Charles died Sunday morning April 6 at his home after about a year and a half with Bright’s disease. Born March 6 1861 at Crimbritshamn Sondon he was 63. He married Christina Transtrum on July 21 1886 and leaves eight children including Leo Mattson Lula Hoge Chancey Merrill and Carrie Mattson. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 pm with a large congregation and several speakers and hymns reflecting the community’s respect.
