Nitrous oxide returns to US ambulance use in rural areas
In Stowe Vermont and other regions nitrous oxide once common in dental and medical settings is reappearing in ambulances. Advanced EMTs use it to ease pain and anxiety during long transports, with costs around 3,800 for a new unit and nitrous cylinders about 14 to refill. Experts warn of misuse and side effects and note it is not an opioid.
