New York will require all students in the 7th and 12th grades to be vaccinated against meningitis as part of new laws signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The move follows other states with similar requirements and aims to reduce the risk of a disease that infects over a thousand Americans annually and can cause severe outcomes. Public health advocates backed the mandate, while critics including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. questioned vaccine safety.
