Tri-Oswego Triathlon canceled for 2017 in Oswego
Oswego officials announced the Tri-Oswego Triathlon scheduled for June 17 is canceled due to rising Lake Ontario flood waters and affected race course safety access. Race director Christopher Jones said the events will be moved to summer 2018 and registrants may defer or request refunds. Over 200 participants joined last year across multiple events.

Oswego Speedway hosts the Novelis Fan Can Chase with three recycling nights in 2017. Oswego State fell 8-7 to Roanoke in the NCAA Division III World Series opener at Fox Cities Stadium. Eric Hamilton homered and had three RBIs as Oswego State cut an eight six deficit in the ninth. Roanoke pitcher Cumdea recorded the final two outs for the save. Oswego State advances to an elimination game at 11 a.m. against Concordia Chicago.

Oswego State baseball star Eric Hamilton earned second team All-America honors from ABCA Rawlings and D3baseball.com marking his second straight year on those lists. The senior led the Lakers to the NCAA Division II College World Series with a .434 batting average and a program single-season hits record 70 while going 5-for-5 with two RBIs in the regional title game against Southern Maine. Hamilton also earned New York Region Player of the Year and MVP honors, and the ceremony took place at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton Wisconsin.
