Thomas Benedetto, a family court referee with over 30 years in law, spoke to the Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club. He outlined challenges in the family court system and his role in aiding families and children in Oswego County for more than three decades. President Jim Cloonan welcomed the guest speaker.
Oswego city police announced second degree gang assault charges against three suspects, Luis A. Dailey 26 Kevin J. Vandelinder 31 both of Fulton and a 17 year old, for a June 3 near West First Street and West Utica Street where the adult victim was stabbed and struck with a beer bottle. Dailey remanded on 10000 cash or 20000 bond. Vandelinder jailed with no bail. minor released on recognizance and to appear July 25. Police seek tipsters at 315 342 8120.
Oswego County lawmakers approved a resolution opposing four downstate bills targeting the Clean Energy Standard and zero emission credits. They warn eliminating or reshaping ZEC subsidies could shut down upstate nuclear facilities crucial for jobs and environmental goals, while resisting shifts of costs to NYSERDA funding streams and consumer rate increases.
Operation Oswego County marked its 65th annual meeting praising efforts in economic development and job creation. Since 1953 OOC has delivered over 4.1 billion dollars in investments, highlighting the Upstate Energy Jobs coalition, the Clean Energy Standard, keeping the James A. Fitzpatrick Nuclear Plant open, a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative award, a county land bank, and nearly twenty other projects. Executive Director L Michael Treadwell summarized a year of activity and energy devoted to strengthening the local economy.
Oswego County officials, Fulton, and Volney agreed to form an intermunicipal sewer district to serve county Route 176, Howard Road, Oswego County Airport and industrial sites. The $2.5 million project, started in 2009, could be reduced by grants. the legislature unanimously approved grant applications to fund the expansion. Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward spoke at a Common Council meeting.
President Trump said he is under federal investigation and targeted Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in angry tweets. The comments come as special counsel Robert Mueller pursues broader inquiries into Russia's 2016 election involvement and possible campaign ties. Feinstein urged caution, warning the president against undermining the rule of law.
