Judge Denies Dismissal in Szatanek Murder Indictment
Oswego judge James Metcalf refused to dismiss the indictment against Steven Szatanek of Baldwinsville in the drowning death of 17 year old Anna-Rose Shore off Brennan's Beach last August. Shore, found Aug 10 along Lake Ontario shore, had been staying with family in a recreational vehicle when last seen walking to the beach. Szatanek, 32, faces second degree murder and second degree manslaughter charges after prosecutors allege he dragged Shore into the water during his on patrol period. He told police he was camping with his girlfriend and her brother and admitted meeting Shore. Prosecutors seek court ordered subpoenas for Szatanek’s records.
