Online symptom reporting improves cancer survival
A Chicago study found that cancer patients using a home online symptom reporting tool showed median survival of 31 months versus 26 months for standard care. The tool prompted rapid nurse responses, more timely treatment adjustments, fewer ER visits, and eight versus six months of chemotherapy on average. Findings were presented at the ASCO meeting and published in JAMA.

Olean Sees Spate of Heroin Overdoses
Officials in Olean New York report at least four recent heroin overdose deaths in the city of 14 000 near the Pennsylvania border and 60 miles south of Buffalo.
