Fulton junior first baseman Fulton Cotton was named to the Class A all state eighth team after a standout season posting a .484 batting average with 11 doubles four home runs and 17 RBIs. Fulton finished 10 6 overall and 8 5 in league play winning the league title and advancing to the Section III Class A playoffs before a two game skid.
Oswego Speedway reports Ohio's Dave Shullick Jr winning his fourth Novelis Super Modified feature of the season on Saturday. Mike Bond claimed the Pathfinder Bank Small-Block Supers 30-lap race for his 39th SBS victory. Dan Connors Jr led the 50-lap Supermodifieds early before Shullick inherited the lead after contact between Bellinger and Connors, then held off Otto Sitterly to win amid a late caution.
Jimmy Phelps roared from tenth to win the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment Big-Block Modified feature at Fulton Speedway on power move lap 9. He led the final stretch in No. 98H, with a tight battle for second among Roberts Sears Jr. Wight and Whittaker before a late crash sidelined Wight. Other winners included Trump and Mackey in Sportsman, Beardsley in Late Models, Moyer and Juno in Novice, and Wallis in Four-Cylinders.
Phelps led the Tracey Road Equipment Modifieds feature with a crowd of drivers following in the 35 lap event. SUNY Canton Sportsman 1 saw Tyler Trump take the lead late to win after a back and forth duel with Jeremy Pitcher and Corey Barker. In SUNY Canton Sportsman 2 Chris Mackey held off Zach Sobotka and Amy Holland for the victory as Kyle Read and Jake Davis won in Novice Sportsman features. Beardsley led the Billy Whittaker Cars & Trax Late Models early, then Parkhurst challenged but Beardsley held on for first of 2017. Quinn Wallis won the JB Logging and Firewood Four-Cylinders feature, with Chris Rombough winning a one-on-one spectator race in a Subaru. The track will host a Yellow Out for Childhood Cancer next Saturday with proceeds going to Golisano Children’s Hospital.
