Frank I Basile of Cato dies after long career and family legacy
Frank I Basile of Cato died Friday after a brief stay at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. He retired in 1996 after 23 years at Northern Ready Mix in Fulton and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 545. A former Golden Glove boxer who fought twice with Carmen Basilio, he also raced stock cars and farmed on an 80 acre property. He later worked at Dean D Cummins Auctions for over 25 years. Survived by wife Barbara, children Michael, Laura, and seven grandchildren, his life was marked by work ethic and kindness. A memorial service is planned 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Ira Fire Department. Donations to Ira Fire Department are welcomed. Foster Funeral Home listed.
