FDA clears cold cap to save hair during chemo
The FDA cleared Sweden's DigniCap cold cap to reduce hair loss in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Trials with 122 women showed most kept more than half their hair, with common side effects being chills headaches and neck discomfort. The device, leased to cancer centers, costs an estimated 1500 to 3000 dollars, with insurance negotiations ongoing.
