Views on reform after Silver conviction and calls for ethics changes
Former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was found guilty on seven counts of corruption, having profited by manipulating the system to receive $4 million in kickbacks. The piece argues reform should include term limits, independent ethics oversight, public hearings, and felon forfeiture of pensions to curb Albany corruption. It critiques campaign financing and full‑time legislature as insufficient. Assemblyman Barclay invites questions at his Fulton office and via email or Facebook.
