Oswego debate over sewer district taps stalls council power

Oswego city and town officials landlords and developers debated city sewer taps for Ontario Heights Sewer District at city hall. The discussion highlighted authority over which projects can tap the system and referenced a 45 000 gallon per day capacity increase and price rise to 11 per thousand gallons for Oswego Town. Newman Development Group plans a SUNY Oswego campus student housing project on Route 104 with 300 plus units.

Oswego incubator project moves forward with 650000 sale

After negotiations, the Port of Oswego Authority and the Oswego County IDA agreed on a 650000 purchase for the former Price Chopper site at 29 E Cayuga St Oswego. The deal aims to create over 100 jobs and attract more than 10 million in private investment by forming a 6 million incubator project with SUNY Oswego and partners.

Oswego man charged in multiple sexual abuse cases

Oswego police announced the arrest of Rickie Neal Bishop, 59, on November 30 for first degree sexual abuse with forcible compulsion, forcible touching, and third degree sexual abuse. Police allege he abused three victims ages 17 to 20 at his residence last month. Bishop remains jailed on $2,500 bail and has a December 8 court date.

Adirondack snowmobile trails clash with forever wild rule

Environmental groups argued before a state Supreme Court judge that new snowmobile trails carved through the Adirondacks violate the forever wild clause by cutting tens of thousands of trees and altering the forest’s character. They contend 9 to 12 foot wide trails planned by the DEC act as roads, threatening more than 31,000 trees under the State Land Master Plan.

Homeless man pleads guilty to meth felony in Fulton

Oswego County Court heard Theodore M. Hennigan, 28, plead guilty to third degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a class D felony, after a October domestic dispute. Judge Donald Todd promised an indeterminate sentence of 1/3 to 4 years plus one year of post release supervision. Police observed him loading bags into a cart at 7 11 Fulton after discovery during the incident.
