September Food Sense package order deadline in Oswego
Oswego residents may order June Food Sense packages until 3 p.m. Sept 11 at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center 73 W Second St Oswego. Orders must be placed in person, with cash or EBT, and pickup is Sept 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program is run by the Food Bank of Central New York with offerings including meatballs sausage and other produce and groceries.

USDA announces incentives to grow biomass crops
The USDA Farm Service Agency opens BCAP enrollment for farmers and forest landowners to grow new biomass energy crops in designated project areas. Proposals due via grants.gov by Nov 6. $7.7 million allocated to four existing areas to establish 10,500 acres of willow, miscanthus and switchgrass. Eligible participants may receive establishment and maintenance payments through Sept 25, 2015. Deliveries to approved energy facilities may continue until Dec 31.
