Summer Fun Day at the Richard son Bates Museum House in Oswego runs 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug 23 with games and prizes, songs by the New Horizons Chorus, refreshments, and museum tours at 135 E Third St.
In Oswego County Court, prosecutors and defense spar over the care 85 year old Irene Dennison received from David and Morgan Tetro amid charges of grand larceny and fraud. By 6 30 p m no flood reports but many calls about debris blocked roads and downed lines. No injuries were reported according to the 911 non emergency center. Oswego district officials confirm Leighton Elementary was removed from the New York State Education Department focus schools list, with Fitzhugh Park Elementary to take its place on the focus list. The district earlier joined the focus program in 2012 due to weak ELA and math scores and subgroup performance, and Leighton’s removal followed a CiTi review and improving metrics. District leaders, including Dean Goewey, outlined plans under School Comprehensive Educational Plans to boost Oswego High and Fitzhugh, noting SED recommendations while stressing the need for staff ownership of the process.
