Canale family of Oswego celebrated for 50 years of service
A tribute to the Canale family of Oswego, longtime Italian restaurateurs from Morolo Italy. Michael A. Canale, a World War II Coast Guard veteran, built a Oswego restaurant legacy with his brother Dominic after buying the Oswego Hotel in 1946. The family expanded with Steve and Nick, their spouses, and grandchildren. The piece recalls fond memories of the family’s cuisine, local gatherings, civic ties, and a lifestyle centered on garlic bread, gnocchi, and sauce, noting marriages into local families and community influence.
