State Highway Department tests in Leake County under D W Robbins show trucks hauling pit Novaculite for road surfacing. Costs: 621 tons at 1 33 per ton in two weeks, 1756 tons at 1 70 per ton next month, 185 tons at 1 13 per ton in the third month. Including truck upkeep and unloading, with four trucks having new tires. Kramer notes costs are about one fifth of typical contractor bids, urging county officials to study the figures.

In Columbus Mississippi November 19 Elder R F Kimmons was elected moderator of the Presbyterian Synod of Mississippi. The sudden death of Rev W V Frierson superintendent of the Palmer Orphanage stunned ministers at opening services. A special committee was named to convey synod sympathy to Frierson’s family. He owned a notable Pearl River county farm.
