Two Big Stills Captured East of Water Valley
Prohi tion agents E. S. Chapman Glenn Whitehead and Deputy Marshal J. M. Wright with Joe Pegues Jr. seized two large stills over night on the 14th eleven miles east of Water Valley in Calhoun county at Pine Valley. The raid yielded more than one thousand gallons of beer and 35 gallons of whiskey with three arrests expected.

S. E. Tackitt aged 71 died February 15 at his daughter’s home in the county. He was born in Lamar county Alabama and moved here as a boy, a 42 year Methodist church member. Survived by widow Sofie Mathews Tackitt and seven children: T. H. Tackitt, Edd Tackitt, Charlie Tackitt, S. E. Tackitt Jr., I. W. Slaughter, Mary Snipes, and Adelia Greer. Funeral at College Hill conducted by Rev. Iva Metts.
