John L. Scott farmer of Sumner county died at his Long Hollow Pike home last Thursday night. Funeral services were held at his residence by Rev. A. H. Huff with burial at Gallatin cemetery. Born February 3 1856 in White County near Sparta Tennessee he was nearly 72. He married Samantha Holt of Wilson County about 46 years ago and is survived by his wife one son William Scott of Oxford Mississippi four daughters Mrs J W Jones of Oklahoma Mrs Don Brown Miss Flora Scott and Mrs Paul Nunnally of the county and sister Mrs M G Arterburn who was living with him at death. He lived by Christian faith though never joining a church.
