Tobacco lawsuit remains on track says Kansas official
Senior Deputy Attorney General John Campbell told a legislative committee in Jopeka that Kansas efforts to recover Medicaid costs from tobacco firms and push for a child-targeting advertising ban stay on track. He noted progress on amended briefs in the state suit against five manufacturers but said a national settlement talks have stalled since Congress blocked ratification. Campbell described Kansas as not pursuing a separate deal but remaining in the broader 50-state negotiations while court motions are decided.
