Protest jump ends in death at El Capitan
A 60-year-old veteran parachutist, Jan Davis of Santa Barbara, died when her chute failed during a protest jump from El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Five jumpers took part. park rangers closed the area as the accident occurred around 2 PM. BASE jumping has long been banned in the park due to a poor safety record and prior injuries.
