Sinclair Ordered To Resume Oil Purchases In Kansas
Topeka Kansas Sinclair Crude Oil Co was ordered to resume normal oil purchases from wells linked to two southeast Kansas pipelines and Sinclair Pipeline Co was ordered to move crude along routes from Eureka to Humboldt and Paola to Humboldt. The orders take effect at 7 am Thursday and remain until the commission decides its jurisdiction over the sale of the pipelines to Producers Pipe Line Co of Iola and whether the transfer serves the public interest. The Iola firm plans to abandon the Eureka Humboldt line if purchased, a move protested by oil producers who say abandonment raises transportation costs and could force marginal wells out of production.
