Honest Abe? Early Lincoln portrait fails at auction
A 1843 daguerreotype described as Abraham Lincoln’s portrait did not meet the undisclosed minimum bid at Christie's, despite experts estimating it could be worth 3 to 5 million dollars if authentic. Dealer William Schaeffer called the sale closure fitting as few believed it to be Lincoln. The high bid reached 150,000 dollars.
