No Tax Hike President Says In 1973
President Nixon stated there will be no presidential tax increase in 1973 but warned that congressional overspending could force one. Paola Teens Charged in Paola Area Cattle Rustling
Wilbur Whitaker Jr. of Paola and two unnamed juveniles were arrested on grand theft charges for taking 12 head of cattle from a Paola pasture last month. The cattle owned by Z-Bar Cattle Co. were sold at an Ottawa sale on Sept 16 for 3300 dollars to a Maryville livestock firm. A juvenile was also tied to a separate bull calf theft involving Miami County Judge Brooks Hinkle.

Franklin County awards jail equipment bids total 12919 dollars
Franklin County Commissioners awarded bids Wednesday for jail office equipment totaling 12919 dollars.
