Skunk Run Days Set With 5K and Fun Run
Prestige Real Estate owner Laura Ansley leads the 5K and 1 mile run walk for Skunk Run Days on Sunday June 13 the second day of the two day festival. Ransom Memorial Hospital dropped out this year. volunteers help with registration and route supervision. Proceeds, if any, go to humanities groups. Race begins at 8 am with the 1 mile at 8:30 am. Registration at Prestige Budge’s Sports Center and Ottawa Library with mail forms available by calling 242-3080 or 242-1167.

Divers to descend again in Garnett Bushwhacker Boogie
About 150 skydivers are expected for the Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce Bushwhacker Boogie skydive rally June 6 and 7 at the municipal airport. Beginners may do tandem jumps after a 20 minute training, with free beginner jumps and no admission fee. Last year nearly 60 divers participated despite rain. The airport is off US 169 east of Garnett on Fourth Street.

The Appanoose Recreation Commission thanked volunteers for work on two new ball diamonds with a hog roast Saturday night. Ninety five people attended with a hog donated by E-4 Barbecue of Berryton. First games on the new diamonds were Monday night. lighting is the next project. cookbooks are sold to fund lights.

Williams burg Community Library hosts an open house for area patrons including children and youth from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday. Visitors can refresh, browse, sign up for the summer reading program themed Read: Discover in 1992, and win prizes after reading five, 15, and 25 books. A librarian will lead a short craft time for children each Tuesday morning in June.
