Weekend events mark the 50th anniversary of V-E Day with train rides from Baldwin City’s Santa Fe Depot at 11 30 a.m. 1 30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays Sundays and holidays through October. Re enactments of the 1858 Marais des Cygnes massacre and other Border War Days events are planned at Mine Creek Battlefield site three miles east of the junction of US 69 and Kansas Highways. Other area happenings include Apple Valley Farm Theatre shows Jurassic Valley Farm and KU Museum workshops for children. A Kansas City Camerata concert and Martin City Melodrama productions run in Liberty and Kansas City area venues with additional film and jazz nights at Nelson Atkins. Lace making revival showcased by Ottawa crafters

Cisneros settles suit with ex-mistress for 49 thousand
