Computers to boost local literacy campaign at Itawa Library

The Itawa Library and Ottawa Adult Education will use an $18,252 grant to install four computer work stations, software, and a printer for literacy classes. Equipment will serve program students and volunteer tutors, mainly at night and on weekends, with word processing and keyboarding skills taught.

Local DAR Salute Highlights ROTC Award and Meetings

General Edward Hand DAR met May 13 at Virginia Wallace home for a salad luncheon as officers for 1995-96 were installed. Erin Evans received the ROTC award May 2 at KU. Oasis Club hosted a May 9 potluck with ideas for a May 31 Independence trip. A local author Diane Caryl was featured in the Silver Quill anthology. Ottawa NARFE held a May 16 dinner with a safety program. Ottawa High grad Michael D Rich earned an MBA from Duke May 14, 1995.
